The Christmas float of Disney's princesses is one of the highlights of the Disneyland Christmas Fantasy Parade held annually during the winter holidays at the Southern California theme park.
About the Christmas Fantasy Parade
From mid-November to right after the new year, Disneyland transforms into a winter wonderland complete with reindeer, falling snow, and even a visit from Santa Claus. However, no holiday celebration would be complete with a parade.
The Christmas Fantasy Parade, which runs along Main Street from Small World to Town Square, includes many of your favorite Disney characters and holiday friends all decked out for Christmas. You will see:
- Waltzing princesses
- Skating snowflakes
- Gingerbread men
- Toy soldiers
- Dancing snowmen
- Prancing reindeer
- Mickey and Minnie Mouse ice skating
- Goofy baking gingerbread
Most of the music played during this parade is original, although a few Christmas classics are also included.
Who's Part of the Christmas Float of Disney Princesses?
One of the highlights of the Christmas parade is the float of princesses known as the Candlelight Christmas Ball. Each belle featured is wearing her best holiday ball gown and dancing with her Prince Charming. Disney has included only five princesses on this float. Princess Jasmine and Alladin, however, follow close behind riding in their own car.
Snow White
Known as Disney's first princess, Snow White made her first appearance on the big screen in 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. She is an optimistic dreamer who almost met her fate after eating a poisonous apple given to her by her stepmother in disguise. She is awakened from her so-called death by her Prince Charming.
Cinderella
Another of Disney's early princesses, Cinderella also lived with her evil stepmother until she met the love of her life, Prince Charming. She was first introduced to the public in a full-length animated movie by the same name in 1950. She met her prince after he found her glass slipper that she left behind at a ball.
Ariel
Princess Ariel dons a beautiful teal and gold gown as she dances with her husband, Prince Eric, on the Christmas Disney float. This Disney princess made her debut in the 1989 film The Little Mermaid. She first meets her "prince" after he falls in the ocean trying to rescue his dog. Ariel, who was a mermaid at the time, saved him from drowning. She later had to choose between life as a mermaid or living as a human on land with Prince Eric.
Belle
When Beauty and the Beast introduced Belle in 1991, little girls all over the world fell in love with her! Her stunning auburn hair and beautiful looks charmed not only Disney fans but the Beast, later known as Prince Adam. Belle is a true princess, showing that looks are only skin deep, when she fell in love with Prince Adam when he was a beast and held captive in his castle.
Aurora
Sleeping Beauty herself, who came to life on the big screen in 1959. After pricking her finger on a spinning wheel spindle, she fell into a deep sleep. She was awakened by Prince Philip, and together, they lived happily ever after.
Other Christmas Fantasy Parade Participants
The princesses aren't the only fairy tale characters to take center stage during the Candlelight Christmas Ball. Park guests can also see Cinderella's fairy godmother, as well as her stepmother and stepsisters, leading the parade float. You may also catch a glimpse of Aurora's good fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, and Snow White's seven dwarfs.
Even though the Christmas float of Disney princesses can be viewed for a short time each year, each of the princesses can be found in various parts of the park throughout the year.
