The beginning of October means more than a chill in the air and thoughts of tricks and treats; it means you can visit the Nightmare Before Christmas at Disneyland.
Holiday Haunted Mansion
In recent years, from the first of October through the end of December, the traditional Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square at Disneyland has undergone an amazing transformation. The classic ghouls and ghosts of Disney's Haunted Mansion are all replaced by the quirky characters from Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack Skellington, Sally, Dr. Finkelstein and Oogie Boogie haunt the scariest spot at the happiest place on earth. Tim Burton's animated classic movie provided ample inspiration for this ride's holiday extravaganza.
Since Disney guests are drawn to anything new and different, the usually short lines at this haunted standby grow and require lengthy waits. However, this ride is outfitted with Fast Pass priority boarding which is enabled only at this time of year. This allows guests to stop by, get a pass and come back at an appointed time to reduce the wait to a few minutes instead of a scary hour.
Nightmare Before Christmas at Disneyland Resort
The Haunted Mansion is not the only place to find items from this favorite film. Visitors can stop into the Bat and Rouge store in New Orleans Square to shop for a variety of Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise including action figures, shirts, Jack Skellington hats, toys and other goodies. During busy times, a temporary pushcart store located outside the exit of the Mansion ride offers a limited variety of Nightmare items. Throughout the Disneyland resort, find additional Nightmare Before Christmas items like soundtrack CDs, DVDs, and Christmas ornaments in various other gift shops as well.
Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D Movie
Of course, Disney's release of the 3-D version of the Nightmare Before Christmas in October 2007 increased excitement in the movie. While the movie is only out in limited release for a short time, it is possible Disney will either make the release an annual event or release a 3D DVD. Check for a 3D Theater near you to experience all these spooky holiday thrills in amazing dimensions.
Whether you are spending Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas at this popular park, take a walk out of the ordinary and visit the transformed Haunted Mansion to get a taste of the Nightmare Before Christmas at Disneyland.
