In the center of Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life stands like a beacon to park visitors. From a distance, it looks like a giant tree, standing 14 stories tall and 50 feet wide. But up close, Animal Kingdom visitors discover an ornately sculpted centerpiece that represents more than 300 animals. Check out more images of the Tree of Life - it's an amazing icon for the Animal Kingdom.
As you approach the Tree of Life, you can begin to make out more clearly the images that are sculpted into the mighty tree trunk. In this picture, you may notice a bat near the top, an owl looking at you, a horse rearing up on its hind legs, a lion, and many more animals.
This is just one of the images of the Tree of Life that Animal Kingdom guests will come face to face with as they wander to the "It's Tough to Be a Bug" show located inside of the tree. The 3D show features characters from the film "A Bug's Life."
Another image that delights kids is this carving of an elephant and the fact that his trunk is in a tree trunk! You can see that the artists took care of every detail in their carving.
Notice the majestic lion that was seen from afar in one of the earlier images of the Tree of Life. The impressive mane is worthy of a snapshot or two... as is the horse seen rearing up on hind legs above the lion.
This pack of wolves seems to stand guard on the Tree of Life - yet another beautiful and powerful image that was hand sculpted by a team of talented artists.
