The 2010 Disney volunteer program, "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." has only one goal in mind: To inspire and celebrate community service. Spend a day helping others in your neighborhood and receive one free admission ticket to any Disneyland or Disney World theme park. It's that simple.

As part of its ongoing "What Will You Celebrate?" theme, Disney officials want to inspire one million people to volunteer one day of service in their communities. Through the HandsOn Network and the Points of Light Institute, available opportunities include working with children's groups and delivering meals to senior citizens to being a language translator and or a college campus tour guide. The possibilities are endless as new options are being added daily.
The program started January 1, 2010 and runs until all one million tickets are distributed, or December 15, 2010, whichever comes first. Volunteers must be 18 years old; however, children who want to volunteer with their parents or guardians must be at least six years old. Children younger than this are not permitted to participate. Volunteers must be residents of the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada only, and must pre-register through the program's website. If you do not volunteer at a participating site, your service does not qualify for the free ticket. It doesn't matter how many times you volunteer either, as you are only eligible for one free ticket.
How to Volunteer
To sign up for the Disney volunteer program and receive your free, one-day theme park ticket, you need to do the following:
- Visit the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" website.
- Find a volunteer activity happening in your community by inputting your city and state or zip code. You can also search at this time for opportunities available for those under 18. The volunteer options shown are only available for 60 days, and eight members of your household can sign up at once.
- Sort through the available activities, as the dates and times are listed.
- Click on "Show Details" for directions on how to reserve your date and time with an agency you choose.
Once You Volunteer
Once your service is completed, you will receive an e-mail from the corresponding organization verifying your service. That same information is sent to the Disney volunteer program officials as well via the Internet. Your e-mail message will include the voucher for the one-day, one-theme park ticket. You can redeem it or donate it to a designated charitable agency. Your voucher will provide all of the information you need to do either of these.
More Disney Volunteer Program Information
While the Disney volunteer program is easy to navigate, there are a few more terms and conditions that apply:
- When you redeem your voucher, you must have a valid form of identification such as a driver's license or government ID that includes a photo or a government-issued passport. Children under 18 can use a certified copy of their birth certificate. Any other form of identification is not acceptable.
- The vouchers, which are not transferable, may not be redeemed on the following dates:

- Walt Disney World Resort from March 29 to April 8, 2010 and July 4, 2010
- Disneyland Resort on February 13-14, 2010, March 21, 2010, June 21-22, 2010, July 4, 2010, November 21, 2010 and December 11-12, 2010.
- Disney annual passport members or multi-day ticket holders will receive a FASTPASS exchange card for you and up to five members of your party or a special ear hat figurine affixed with trading pins. You can also choose to donate your ticket to a participating charity.
